Vision Guider Download - Vista users

The Vision Guider Software will NOT be sent in the mail. It is available immediately by following the instructions below.

Step 1:

Please close all programs and all other browser windows before installing.

Step 2:

Check to see if you have the following:

System Requirements:
  • 16-bit or greater stereo sound card

  • Speakers

  • Microphone (not required for the demo version)

  • CD Burner (not required for the demo version)

  • Blank CD's (not required for the demo version)

  • Adobe Flash Player (minimum Version 8)

  • If you cannot see the movie below,
you will be unable to see the Vision Guider.
The Adobe Flash Player installer box may "pop up" and ask you to install the Adobe Flash Player. If it does not, please click the Adobe Flash Player link above & download Adobe Flash Player.
    Then proceed to Step 3.
(After downloading the Adobe Flash Player, the movie will still not show until you refresh this page)

    Step 3:

Vista has some trickier security measures than the other Windows platforms (e.g. XP, 2000).

One of those measures is the "User Account Control (UAC). Many actions that you normally perform in Windows prior to Vista NOW require Administrator privileges and so Vista will ask for permission before it will continue with these tasks.

You will know if your "User Account Control" is turned "on" if you have those warnings that "pop up" each time to ask you if what you just did is something you really wanted to do. (e.g. "You need to confirm this operation.") Or if when you are installing a program, your screen dims and this message appears, "An unidentified program wants access to your computer".

Which type of Vista user are you?

Click here if: You DO NOT have your, "User Account Control" (UAC) turned, "On"
You can use the same download and instructions for the other Windows users.

Vision Guider Download - All Windows users (except Vista (UAC) users)
Click here if: You have your (UAC) turned "on" and you DO NOT want to leave it "on"
You can turn the UAC "off", but by disabling the controls, it may cause some other Vista programs to not function properly. Also Microsoft recommends that you leave UAC turned on to help protect your computer.

Please make an informed decision by searching on the internet
(e.g. via Google, Vista forums) what is best for you.

**Please do not contact us for info about UAC - this is Microsoft Vista - not the Vision Guider.**

If you do turn "off" the UAC, you can download the Windows version of the Vision Guider.
Click here if: You have your (UAC) turned "on" and you want to leave it "on"
Unfortunately, there are a few extra steps to use the Vision Guider. You will need to follow the special instructions (listed in Steps 5 - 8) each time you use it, otherwise error messages will appear when you attempt to use the Vision Guider.

If you want to have the User Account Control "ON", please continue to Step 4:

    Step 4:

Please read all the instructions below before clicking the "Download Now" button.

Once you click the, "Download Now" button (listed below), you will be shown a dialog box(like the one to the left).

If you are using Internet Explorer, select "Run".

If you are using Firefox, select "Save"

If a browser Security Warning dialog box appears (like shown to the left), you will need to select, "Run" to install the Vision Guider.
When the UAC screen appears, "An unidentified program wants access to your computer", please choose, "Allow - I trust this program. I know where it is from or I've used it before".

Next, the Vision Guider Setup Wizard will appear.

If you are using Firefox, you may need to select, "Open" to make the Setup Wizard appear.

Follow the instructions within the Vision Guider Setup Wizard to complete the download.

    After you are finished downloading:

    Step 5:

On your desktop, right-click on the Vision Guider desktop icon (it looks like a sun)

    Step 6:

Choose, "Run as Administrator". This step is VERY IMPORTANT. Failure to do this step will result in error messages from the Vision Guider.

    Step 7:

When the "User Account Control - An unidentified program wants access
to your computer" appears, please choose, "Allow - I trust this program. I know
where it is from or I've used it before".

    Step 8:

When the little sun icon appears in your system tray (bottom right hand side of your screen), return to this page and choose, "Vision Guider" in the menu at the top of this page.
The butterfly (the Vision Guider) should appear.

    VERY IMPORTANT:

To use the Vision Guider demo at a later time, you will need to repeat Steps 5 - 8 each time you want to use the program. Failure to do Steps 5 - 8 will result in error messages.

Click here if you forgot to do Steps 5 - 8 and you are receiving error messages.
If you have opened the Vision Guider and did NOT right-click and choose, "Run as Administrator", you will receive the following error messages:

"Can not start Com manager of the app. Application will terminate!" and "Automation error. A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed."

    1. Click, "ok" to remove the messages.
    2. Right-click on the little sun icon (in your system tray - bottom right hand side of your screen), and choose, "Exit".
    3. After confirming that you would like to exit the application, you will receive 9 other error messages (e.g "Object variable or With block variable not set", "Parameter not found", etc...).
    4. Click, "ok" to remove the messages.
    5. And then repeat Steps 5 - 8 to start the Vision Guider.

We apologize deeply for this huge inconvenience. It is an unfortunate result from the Vista Security (User Account Control - UAC).
